Brief profile of Brooks Collins:
                                                                   
Brook Collins was born and raised in Twabo, Grand Gedeh County, Republic of Liberia. Unfortunately, while still in high
school, he joined thousand of Liberians during the civil war to seek refuge in the neighboring country of Ivory Coast in 1990.  

Having found himself in the refugee camp, Mr. Collins tried to pursue his dream of going back to school but this dream was
far from reality. Not until in 1994 when the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) saw the need to
elevate some junior high schools to high schools which enable him to enroll and graduated in 1997.

As a dedicated follower of the lord Jesus Christ, he honored the call to serve as the head pastor of the United Baptist
Church, one of the independent and self established Baptist churches by refugees from Liberia. He also served as the
chairman of the Council of denominational Churches at the refugee camp for four years. Brooks is legally married and is
blessed with three girls and one boy.

As a pastor and chairman, Mr. Collins experienced personal relationship with young people mainly children who were
affected by the war. It was at this moment that his desire to work for children and other vulnerable people has begun to
develop.

In April 2004, he was fortunate to be among the six thousand refugees selected to be resettled to the United States from the
Ivory Coast due to the civil war that erupted in 2002.

Upon his arrival in the United States, He joined few Liberians to establish the Liberian Association of Washington State and
served as its secretary general and later became president of association for two years from 2006-2008. Presently Mr.
Collins is serving as one of the pastors at the Transcontinental Christian Ministries (TCM) in Kent, Washington.

Brooks is a graduate of Highline community college with an associate degree in general education with emphasis in Human
Services.
Brooks Collins currently holds a volunteer position as director of Operations for the Children's welfare International (CWI) in
Washington.
