In Washington
The many Immigrant Children resettling here in the United States are confronted with serious challenges as they make the transition to the public
schools in their new country. Most of these children enter America with no or little English skills far below their grade levels. English is automatically
the second language for all of these children.
Despite all the challenges, these children are level base on their ages; as a result, they enroll with poor reading and writing skills, as well as poor
English communication skills in schools.

This is because some of the children especially those
emigrated from Africa did not even enter a school prior to
their resettlement here in America probably due to war or
poverty in Africa.
These circumstances have prompted the Children Welfare
International to recognize the need for an After school
program for these immigrant school children beginning with
those living in King County, Washington State.
Our focus will be on the followings.
Reading, writing, mathematic computation and other
social, linguistic, and cultural activities.
