Children's Choir
CWI children's choir is compose of 35 vulnerable children, mainly orphans
and street children living in the city of Monrovia, Liberia. Their ages ranges
from ten (10) to twelve (12) years.
Music is one of our approaches use in order to help children overcome the
cycle of poverty, trauma and mental disorder. Our children choir is a member of
the world children choir of the International children's Network
Psycho- social services
Children's Welfare International provides the following services below with focus to building on children's resiliency and natural ability to recover ,
while limiting the long-term effects of these events. As a result of their traumatic experiences during the crisis, most of the children in Liberia do lack
self esteem and the power to engage with their environment in order to actively learn about the world.
The Children's Welfare International believes that without drivable psychosocial services, most of the children living in Liberia will fail to integrate
in the society and they are very likely to reproduce the continue violence on others, jeopardizing the peace building processes of the country. In order
to help children break out of the cycle of war, traumatic experiences, and poverty, we have developed the following activities:
Currently we do have an all boys football (soccer) team and an all
girls kickball team involve in our program in Monrovia.
While at our center, the coach keeps an eye on the children,
seeking to reassure them and building relationships with them. As
they gain the trust of the coach and their friends, most of the children
begin to open up and talking about their needs, concerns, hopes for
the future and, sometimes, past trauma and suffering.
Through these sporting activities we help children to develop
important social skills such as mutual tolerance, conflict resolution
and the use of nonviolence approach. In our program, children also
develop a new awareness of their own health and their rights.

Football(soccer) is another activity carry on at our center in order to help the children enjoy themselves like any child would, to share in the team spirit
that sports can stimulate, and to help them regain the awareness that they are capable of learning and being an important member of a team and their
society.
